As a kickoff for our March Memory Madness theme this month, I wanted to take an opportunity to compile a list of some events I think would be great to scan photos for. All throughout the year there is a countless amount of holidays, events and situations that could benefit from scanning your archives. It’s clear from the escalated pace that 2013 has started off with, time can get away from us and the photo scanning project you’ve been meaning to get started on might get put on the back burner. Keep in mind that holidays like Mother’s Day and Father’s Day are quickly approaching – don’t miss out on an opportunity to showcase your memories.
10 Events To Scan Photos For
1. Mother’s Day
What a great gift this would make - showing her a slideshow of family memories. This would give you both an opportunity to take a trip down memory lane. You would be able to include your christening, your first day of school, your first family vacation, etc.
2. Father’s Day
Are you and your Dad best friends? Even if you aren’t very close with your Father, taking this holiday as inspiration to scan your photos gives both of you the ability to remember what was so wonderful about growing up and spending time together.
I know - thinking about your only child going to college is a little scary. But alas, they all must leave the nest at some point. For the graduation party, a fantastic addition would be a showcase of the life of your son or daughter. You can show the journey he or she has taken to get to where they are now.
4. Family Reunions
This might be our favorite place to share the scanned photos. When the whole family gets together everyone loves reminiscing about the “good old days.”
Shopping for the one who has everything can sometimes make birthdays stressful. I can tell you one thing they don’t have - a digital archive of their most prized memories. Imagine the look on their face when their old, dusty, faded photos are brought back to life!
For a 30, 40 or 50th wedding anniversary, some people choose to celebrate with a celebration. If you got married this long ago chances are your wedding photos are in a yellowing photo album and can be subject to having further damage done. Save them and get that photo scanning project in motion!
At the reception, think about having a slideshow play of both the bride and groom. You can embarrass your kids forever - why not have a little fun at their wedding?
I am thankful that I have a beautiful family I’ve shared my holidays with my whole life. I think this holiday would be a nice place to remind everyone what they should also be thankful for.
It’s never too early to start thinking about Christmas. If you get started on getting photos scanned now, by next Christmas you’ll have to do even less shopping. Less time in a crowded mall? Sign me up!
10. Valentine’s Day
If you weren’t able to take advantage of this idea for this recent V-Day, why not get a jump start for next year? Start a tradition you can share with your loved one every year.
We hope this gave you the inspiration as to why you should scan photos! Looking for ideas on how to share your digital photos? Read our ebook here!
