Another weekend passed, another Monday gone. We hope you got around to getting some pictures together to be scanned this weekend. Don’t worry - we won’t hold it against you if you didn’t. Our passion around the office is photo scanning but we also love everything else about photography. From a quick search on Google you can find how-to blogs, personal stories and best practices for when taking pictures among thousands of other subjects. We wanted to take a moment to share a few of the blogs we read on a daily basis we think go above and beyond the call of blogging.
PetaPixel has been around since 2009. We love these guys because they find a way to blog about anything and everything photography. Most of their posts lean towards giving you insight on cutting edge technology and mixing a lot of humor (one of our favorite parts). We also admire the videos they find - check out the one about recent photos of President Obama from the past four years.
Simply put in their own words - Light Stalking is a site about beautiful photography. Their whole initiative is to share amazing photos and give credit where credit is due. They feel photographers deserve a few minutes of fame - and we agree. There are so many people out there who don’t get nearly as much credit as they deserve for all the beauty they capture. We can relate to the folks at Light Stalking because we have a similar feeling about showcasing photographs. All the pictures you have not digitized are just waiting to be put on display for all your friends and family to enjoy and appreciate!
PhotoShelter is a website for serious photographers - over 70,000 have already joined this community. This is a place where you can create and customize your own website to display your photographs and build a stronger portfolio for a photography businesses. Their blog highlights hot topics in the photography industry and ideas for different kinds of photographers among many other subjects.
Take a look at Photojojo’s website and you’ll see what contributes to making them liked by so many - especially us at FotoBridge. There’s nothing wrong with having a little fun with color, graphics and humor. We love these guys because although they aren’t a true blog (they send out a newsletter), they always keep us wanting more. They made Photojojo to “share the word about awesome photo stuff” and now we’re sharing them with you!
APPO is the Association of Personal Photo Organizers. Their main objective is to help people bring cherished memories back to life through images, words, photobooks, scrapbooks and more. APPO covers everything from organizing your digital photos, photo journaling, how to share your photos, and more. Their blog is a great resource for you to reference when you’re just getting started on your photo scanning project.
We hope we gave you some fresh, new reading material. Feel free to comment and share with us what your favorite blogs are - maybe we’ll feature them in another post! We also have a new ebook you can download - “25 Ways to Share Your Digital Photos” - which is chock full of ideas for sharing your memories with friends and family.
